DO Feed the Animals

This weekend we have been visiting (and feeding) lots of animals. It started with the goats at the farm neighboring my parents home, and it moved to the Safari Park today. Let me tell you...A loved every second.

The goats were eating carrots and apples from his hands and when they took one, he would clap for them! The doe are due in a few weeks, so we can't wait to come back and see the kids arrive :)

Today the animals were a little more exotic (and the feed required flat hands) so I was a little less enthusiastic, but he got to pet lots of fun stuff (like goats and pot-belled pigs) and the birds were awesome flying onto the bludgie stick! Of course we fed the llama and camels and bison for him so he could get close.

We can't wait til next time! And remember adults, sometimes we do need to feed the animals and get our hands covered in goat saliva :)

Fixing the Dinner Rut

This isn't my normal post full of cute pics. but I warned I may do this, so here goes :)

For the last month or so I've been complaining we're in a rut when it comes to A's meals. For Mother's Day my Mom have me a cookbook I picked out from Amazon. The book is called SOS! The Six o'Clock Scramble to the rescue. We have used this book every night this week and it has been awesome.

First, I love that it is separated into sections by season. I always want to cook by season but this book makes it easy. Obviously we're working through spring :)

Second, the meals really are quick, while also being healthy and delicious for all ages. This week we've made an orzo-pea-feta dish, a sesame honey noodle dish, and ginger salmon. Tonight lemon oregano chicken and zucchini fritters with couscous is on tap. I used to love Rachel Ray recipes, but sadly they are not always healthy nor do they take 30 minutes (it's always longer...) Don't get me wrong - I still have some great standbys from RR, but this is my new go to book for dinner.

I didn't take pictures of the food this week, but maybe tonight :) A loved the orzo pasta, and thought the sesame honey noodle dish was okay. What will he think of the zucchini fritters?

Follow up...fritters are ok...we'll try again :)

Beach Love

Apparently 18 months is when the beach becomes fun. Last year we went to the beach three times (ages 7.5, 10.5 and 13 months) and the beach and sand were fun for about 30 minutes and that was it for the day.

Fast forward to this beach trip. We were out there for around 3 hours and the kid couldn't eat enough sand to play with. The cold water? Well, he clearly takes after mom, but that's ok...there's plenty of sand out there.

May is Child Safety Month

In honor of Child Safety Month, I sincerely ask you to watch the below clip. It is going to be on the local NBC affiliate, but you can be reminded of how to keep your home safe on YouTube. Plus you can watch an adorable and aspiring young actor :)

But seriously, child proof your home for your kids or grandkids. Bad things can happen in an instant.

All Moms Deserve a Good Hug

One of my favorite things is getting a good hug. A has a thing where after we change his diaper or clothes upstairs, he stands up and gives a big hug. There's nothing better than getting that hug. So today on Mother's Day, I asked Kyle to take a photo of this routine. A may not do this for much longer, but I'll treasure it for as long as I can. From now on I'll also try to make sure I give my own mom better hugs, because she deserves them!

It's been a while...

So A got sick (tummy bugs are no fun for little ones or parents!) and the only really good photo taken last weekend f him was on another person's camera...

So I vowed to update as soon as I could and get some more fun shots of A playing outside, as that is by far his favorite place to be! Luckily the weather has cooperated yesterday and today, so far
.
I swear he has plenty of toys, but the kid loves sticks way more than any toy!

Just ridin'... Chillin...

And that's it...just enough to hopefully brig some smiles :)
