We're on a boat...

Five years ago saying "I'm on a boat" brought a certain song to mind that is not appropriate with a 2 year old in the picture. It reminds me how things sure have changed over the last few years! But I'll take these changes for A to experience his first boat rides and have an absolute blast! 

We headed down to Morehead City last weekend to visit family who happen to have a boat. A didn't stop talking about riding a boat for the whole week leading up to, and he hasn't stopped since! 

We had fun on the shore too. This time last year A complained the water was too cold and wouldn't touch it. This year, well...

And for some reason I just love this photo...

Thanks for a great first boat ride Uncle Carl and Aunt Louise! And here's to our next boating adventure planned for July 4th with some great friends in SC. We can't wait!

Summer is here!

I love summer do a lot of reasons: the sun, the pool, the fruit and vegetables, and did I mention the heat? Yeah I love the heat. It's the southerner in me (sorry Midwest family)! Oh and my birthday happens to coincide with this time of year too :)

So I'm glad we can officially say summer is here. Already we're having a blast and doing things that scream summer to me, as evidenced by the random set of photos below. It's going to be a great one!

Happy Mom's Day!

Just this week A started calling me Mom. I'm not sure where it came from, but I must admit I'm a little sad. He still mixes it with Mommy, but I guess it's just a rite of passage. One of many of course. I'm not really complaining. Of course I call my own Mommy, Mom. As do most of us I think. It just seemed so grown up.

But I am proud to be his Mom. I know I'm fortunate, not only to have had an amazing day to celebrate, but also because I have my own amazing Mom and Mom to my husband to have shared this day with! We started the day with greetings of "Happy Mother's Day" to each, followed by a special lunch at a favorite vineyard, and topped with a trip to the playground and burgers on the porch.

So if that's what being Mom means, I'll take it. I guess it comes with the territory.

We had the pleasure of attending a 

beautiful wedding in Kinston, NC last weekend for Kyle's cousin Jess. It was A's first wedding, and he did pretty good. But really I took it as a chance to dress him to the nine's and introduce him to some extended family he had either never met or doesn't see often.

Well, he did his part of charming everyone. Big surprise, right?

But really, we had an amazing time. Now at bedtime we get to say good night to lots of people who's faces he can actually remember! It does make it more fun every night :) 

So I hope we get to see you all again soon! And if you took any pictures of us, please send them to my email. I got lots of solo shots of A and a great one with dad, but none of all 3 of us...

Oh and one last thing...he drove the party bus. I'm pretty sure it will be his favorite wedding for a long time thanks to this!

Our Favorite Furry Friend is FIVE!

A loves a good party. Especially birthday parties because those include cupcakes in his his mind. So, for the first time ever I was that proud mom who made a party for my dog. Except that proud dad had the same idea :) Clearly we love both our kiddos!

Fella was treated to a hike (his favorite!). 

Then came a cup of Frozen Paws (doggie ice cream - not pictured unfortunately) and cupcakes.

It was magical for everyone :)

Easter

Well it's Easter and spring has sprung. We celebrated the coming of spring by planting flowers in the yard and of course, an egg hunt. A has gotten quite a bit of practice over the last few days between day care, DD and DaDoc and us. He is quite the expert now.

Needless to say, we had fun. And just so you don't think we're horrible people celebrating without church, I read him the story of Jesus' return from The Book, given to me by my Dad when I was 5. How 'bout that?

Oh My Goodness!

I don't really have a theme for this post. The title comes from or favorite phrase that A is saying right now. Every time he says it we just laugh because it is freaking adorable.
